"Home Waters"
by Artist Ken Waterstreet
Jan. 14 - Feb 12, 2009
Ken Waterstreet says that rivers are “…wonderful natural things.” Is it a coincidence that an artist with a great love and respect for rivers should have the last name Waterstreet?
When he isn't painting, Ken is generally standing in a mountain stream fly-fishing. He's been working since 2004 on a series of water-related oil paintings and color pencil drawings so realistic that you can almost feel the cold wet river rocks beneath your feet and smell that fresh blast of morning air as if you’re standing in a river stream, just you and your fly rod. Maybe Ken’s fishing nearby.
A collection of pieces he calls Home Waters will be on display at the Sierra College Ridley Gallery beginning Tuesday, January 14 through Thursday, February 12, 2009. An opportunity to meet and speak to Waterstreet will be made possible during the artist reception held at the gallery on Wednesday, January 21, between 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Ken Waterstreet, 68, retired from teaching at Mira Loma High School in Sacramento after 31 years. He received his MA in Art in 1969 from CSUS.
