Sierra 62, Lassen 57
The Sierra College Men’s basketball team survived both a 4-hour bus ride and a spirited effort by the Lassen Cougars, escaping with a 62-57 victory in their first game of the season.
Marcel Smith (Foothill High School) set the tone for the Wolverines taking a charge on the game’s very first possession. After a physical thirty-eight minutes, the Wolverines found themselves railing 55-51 with 1:30 left. Haven Piatt hit a three to bring the Wolverines within one.
Dave Collins (Franklin High School), who led the Wolverines with 9 rebounds, made two 17-foot shots late in the game including the game winning shot with 45 seconds left to put the Wolverines up for good.
Bryant Langston (Center High School) lead the team with 12 points while Ryan Pearson (Elk Grove High School) and Keith Arrington (El Camino High School) both contributed 11.
