Committee Parameters

Meeting Time & Location:

  • 2nd and 4th Friday, 12:30 - 2:00 – Weaver 213A

Voting Rights & Quorum Rule:

  • All committee members have an equal vote on decisions.
  • A quorum is reached when 8 members are present

Purpose:

  • Support assessment activities to improve teaching and learning at Sierra College.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a forum for the support and encouragement of assessment-related activities, discussions, and planning.
  • Aid in the cyclical collection and analysis of data to document improvement of student learning.
  • Support and encourage a culture of evidence.
  • Develop and communicate plans and documents to guide the institutional assessment of student learning across the campus, including Institutional Outcomes, the Institutional Assessment Plan, website, handbooks and ongoing assessments based upon these documents.
  • Coordinate and develop staff development opportunities for faculty to strengthen their understanding of the assessment process.
  • Review and support course and program assessments. Provide guidelines for developing outcomes, assessing student learning, interpreting data, and making changes.
  • Implement assessment of institutional outcomes.
  • Assist in developing processes and evidence for accreditation standards and other reports on progress.

Membership: Committee membership is based upon the experience and interests of individual faculty members to participate in the process and the need of the committee to provide broad representation across campus divisions.
