Sierra College is proud to present world renowned educator, author and speaker, Tim Wise at the Rocklin Campus Dietrich Theater on Thursday, January 19, from 7-9pm. This is a free event. Seating is first come, first served.
Tim Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist educators of our time. He was named one of “25 Visionaries Who are Changing Your World” by Utne Reader in 2010. He has lectured throughout the United States and internationally on issues of comparative racism, race and education, racism and religion, and racism in the labor market. He has authored six books and will be bringing some of his books to the event if you would like to purchase and/or get them signed. He has also contributed essays to 25 books, and received the 2001 British Diversity Award for best feature essay on race issues. Wise has also appeared on hundreds of radio and television programs, is a regular contributor to discussion about race on CNN, and was featured in a segment on ABC’s 20/20 in 2007. The topic of his lecture on the evening of January 19 will be “They ‘Want Their Country Back:’ Racial Nostalgia and White Anxiety in an Era of Change.” For more information about Tim Wise, please visit www.timwise.org.
