Sierra College Honors Society welcomes new members
The Beta Mu Zeta Induction Ceremony honors all students at Sierra College who have earned a sufficiently high grade point average to qualify as members of Sierra’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College. These students will be formally inducted into the organization at this ceremony. The event also celebrates the accomplishments of these students and provides the opportunity for them to thank those who have helped them on their academic journey. Each student inductee will be brought on stage with her or his respective honoree, and they will have their photograph taken together. The inductees will receive certificates from the Beta Mu Zeta chapter, recognizing them as official members. New chapter officers and new members will “take the oath” as honored members of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
The chapter will be honoring President Willy Duncan, Vice President of Instruction Deb Sutphen, and Faculty member Jennifer Kattman at the ceremony for their contributions to the organization. In addition, two Beta Mu Zeta student members, Deborah Dahl and Quyen Le, will be recognized for their accomplishments as recipients of the 2012-13 All-California Academic Achievement Scholarship Award. The Induction Ceremony will be held in the Dietrich Theatre on Friday, May 10, 2013. The event begins at 6:30pm. All are welcome.
