Event Details

Have you ever sampled Persian food or listened to Peruvian music? Can you make a Japanese origami crane?  Would you like to get a henna tattoo? These are just a few of the things you can participate in at the 13th annual People & Culture Days, 2014. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this FREE event that will be held on the Quad, outside the college cafeteria at the Sierra College Rocklin campus on Wednesday October 22 and Thursday October 23 from 10 am–2 pm.

Come experience cultures from around the globe right here in Rocklin. There will be live music and entertainment, international food available for purchase, informational booths, posters, art, dancing, international arts & crafts, and much more.

Pick up your event Passport from the Embassy booth and look for the answers to the questions by talking with event participants and examining the posters. Enter a drawing with a completed passport to win a prize. As Robin Persiani, English as second Language (ESL) Professor, says “It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about, appreciate, and celebrate the diverse cultures on our campus and around the world.” This event is designed to foster world peace and promote understanding of different cultures and global issues.

Here are some examples of fun and educational activities you can do:

  • Come out and fill-out a passport for extra-credit.
  • Taste Persian and/or Mexican food from the food trucks.
  • Watch our talented performers dance or sing on the lawn area.
  • Get your hand painted by a henna artist from 10:45-2 pm both days.
  • See students’ projects in the cafeteria.
  • Sample food from around the world at the Food booth.
  • Get a flag painted on your hand/ face at the Art booth.
  • Learn how to use pointillism at the Art booth.
  • Get your name written in Russian or Farsi at the Art booth.
  • Say a few words in a foreign language at the Language booth.
  • Learn to play a game or listen to music at the Game/Music booth.
  • Visit the ESL tables to see student’s projects, sample unique food and play games.
