EOPS Eligibility

Eligibility for 2014-15

In order to be eligible for the EOPS program, students must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a California resident for at least one year and one day before school starts;
  • Be enrolled full-time (12 units) when accepted into the EOPS program.
  • Have completed no more than 70-degree applicable units, not counting remedial course work.
    Priority will be given to students who have earned less than 30 units;
  • Be approved for a Board of Governors Enrollment Fee Waiver (BOGW) under either the BOGW "A" or "B" criteria.

BOGW A

Receive public benefits such as TANF/CalWORKsSSI/SSPGAVETS.

BOGW B

Use this method to see if you qualify based on 2013 income:
  • Household Size of 1 AND an Income Standard of $17,235 or less
  • Household Size of 2 AND an Income Standard of $23,265 or less
  • Household Size of 3 AND an Income Standard of $29,295 or less
  • Household Size of 4 AND an Income Standard of $35,325 or less
  • Add $6,030 thereafter for each additional member in household.

Be educationally disadvantaged as determined by the Program Coordinator (must meet one or more factors from the following list):

  1. Does not qualify for the minimum level english or math course required for an associate degree at the college of attendance.
  2. Does not have a high school diploma, GED certificate or high school equivalency certificate.
  3. Graduated from high school with less than a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. (Transcripts required for documentation)
  4. Has been previously enrolled in remedial/developmental education, in adult education, high school or any higher education institution.
  5. Other factors: (Upon approval of Program Coordinator)

To Be Eligible for the CARE Program, Students Must:

  • Be EOPS eligible;
  • Be at least 18 years of age and be single head of household;
  • Be a current recipient of AFDCTANF/ CalWORKs;
  • Have one child under 14 years of age; and
  • Be enrolled full-time upon admission to the program.
  • CARE verification documents must be submitted on time and current with our office.
