Language and Literature

Consider earning a degree or certificate in the Language and Literature Interest Area where you’ll learn how to express yourself creatively while promoting understanding through written, spoken, signed words.
Associate of Arts Degrees (AA) provide you with a strong educational foundation before you enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year college. Earn the Associate of Arts degree if you are pursuing knowledge concerning cultural and human perspective, languages, education or various art forms. Associate Degrees require 60 units, which include general education units, units in a major or interest area, and electives.
Earning a Certificate of Achievement gives you the knowledge and technical training needed for a specialized career. This can be a good option if you are exploring new careers, seeking professional advancement or upgrading credentials. Certificates of Achievement require a minimum of 16 units.
Complete your major preparation and general education requirements at Sierra College and be well on your way to earning a more advanced degree. An Associate in Arts Transfer Degree (AA-T) guarantees you admission with junior standing at participating* four-year colleges. Transfer Degrees require 60 units, which include general education units, units in a major or interest area, and electives. If earning an AS-T, it also requires a one-unit science lab.. *Participating four-year colleges include California State University (CSU), Historically Black Colleges and Universities, fully online and out-of-state universities, and independent colleges and universities in California.
Earning a Skills Certificate allows you to develop career and technical skills in a short amount of time. Learn new skills in preparation to enter a new field or upgrade skills to advance in your existing job. Skills Certificates require fewer than 16 units.
Earning a Noncredit Certificate can provide foundational skills and a smooth transition to credit programs and employment. Noncredit courses can be repeated. Students do not receive grades and are tuition-free.
