Paramedic
This program is currently under accreditation review and not accepting applications at this time.
Do you enjoy caring for people? Do you work well under pressure? Becoming a paramedic may be for you.
A paramedic is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergency patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Paramedics function as part of a comprehensive emergency medical service (EMS) response, under medical oversight. Paramedics perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The paramedic is a link from the scene into the health care system.
Put Your Mind to It
Following graduation, Paramedics work in various clinical health roles such as firefighter paramedics, flight medics, paramedic supervisors, emergency medical dispatchers, and emergency room technicians. They also work in non-clinical roles such as law enforcement officers, medical equipment repairer and health information technician.
At Sierra College, our goal with every EMS student is to make you the absolute best. Our mission is to help you develop the skills and compassion you will need to succeed. Your mission is to take what you've learned into the community and save lives.Dr. Vance VanTassell, Paramedic and AEMT Medical Director, Sierra College

Letter of Review is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) for eligibility to take the National Registry’s Paramedic credentialing examination(s).
