Thomas Morton, Head Coach

Thomas has 30 years of tennis playing experience and over 15 years of collective coaching experience in all aspects of the game of tennis. He brings coaching experience from the private tennis club level, country club, park and recreation as well as NCAA Division 2 level where he was the Assistant Coach of the Men’s Tennis team at Sonoma State University. He has worked as a director for Summer Camps, high level junior programs as well as taught adult tennis lessons and coached leagues at various clubs throughout Northern California. Last year he was the assistant coach for Sierra College. He currently is the Head Pro and Assistant Department Head at Life Time Athletic in Roseville, CA where he directs the tennis program.

Thomas played #1 singles and Doubles for Butte College in 2001. Thomas was regionally ranked # 2 in the Western division 2 doubles rankings while playing at Sonoma State University in 2002-2004. In 2005-2006, Thomas received an athletic scholarship to Division 1 Sacramento State University where he played at the 2-4 singles positions for 2 seasons. In his college playing experience, Thomas had wins over former USTA nationally ranked top 50 juniors and world ranked top 300 juniors.

In his college career Morton obtained wins over nationally ranked junior college, NAIA, division 3 and division 2 competitors. Thomas has been ranked in the top 15 in the nation in Men’s & USTA national 30’s in 20015-2016 for singles, playing in national level 1 USTA tournaments. Thomas currently competes on the USTA men’s open Singles and Doubles circuit with past rankings in the top 20 in Northern California.

Thomas also currently excels in leagues such as 5.0 and 10.0 USTA mixed where he competes with the top tennis players and coaches in Northern California. Last year Thomas was a member of the # 3 in the nation mixed doubles USTA 10.0 mixed team.
