The purpose of this club is to bolster discussion and spread awareness of the interdisciplinary applications of anthropology. We will focus on building community among students of all backgrounds and fields of study, and broadening the worldviews of our active members through the examination of humankind using the holistic approaches inherent to anthropology.

The Environmentally Concerned Organization of Students (ECOS) at Sierra College supports and promotes environmental advocacy, sustainability, stewardship and education. ECOStudents pursue local, state, national, and global issues that affect the environment, directly or indirectly.

ECOS strives to make positive changes happen on campus and in the community. ECOStudents attend conferences, take field trips, handle restoration projects, volunteer with local non-profits, care for a student garden and much more. Each spring semester, ECOStudents organize the Earth Day celebrations on campus. Visit our ECOS website.

The Sierra College Environmentally Concerned Organization of Students (ECOS) Club was founded in 1990 and, along with the Associated Students of Sierra College (ASSC) and the Earth Day Committee, has been integral in the implementation of the Sierra College Earth Day celebration for more than three decades. In November 2023, the Sierra College ECOS Club submitted an open letter requesting that the Sierra Community College District enact a funding policy prohibiting the use of any District dollars for the purchase of single-use plastic water bottles.

What is Mythopoetics? Mythopoetics is a term, coined by poet Gary Snyder, meaning the strategic use of literature to change the narrative of a culture. In short, changing the world with words. Our club celebrates creative writing and literature, and edits and publishes the Sierra Journal.

Our mission is to provide meaningful, unique opportunities for students to learn about blood cancers and other life-threatening diseases treated by a blood stem cell transplant. We also increase awareness of the need for young, committed, racially and ethnically diverse registry members who can save a life. We hold campus-wide education/awareness events, donor registry and fundraising events and activities to give the entire student body the opportunity to join in this social movement and global effort.

Our club promotes and advocates greater awareness and presence of Native Americans at Sierra College. We meet weekly each semester with the goal of exposing members to cultural, educational and social opportunities. We hold the Annual Sierra College Big Time and Indigenous People’s Days Events, participate in community activities, attend conferences and offer educational presentations. Additionally, we invite artists, activists and scholars from the Native American community to speak at our campus.

The purpose of the Sierra College Physics and Engineering Club (SCPEC) is to introduce  students to the concepts and the process of design and fabrication and to foster curiosity in students who may be otherwise intimidated by physics and/or engineering. This can be achieved through:

• development and design of simple mechanical devices
• increased interactions between club members; other physics and engineering clubs/societies; and our physics and engineering faculty
• exposure to various opportunities that the physics and engineering departments offer our students

The Psychology Club welcomes everyone interested in psychology topics, and it is not required to be a psychology major to be in the club. We do events like panel events, campus cleanup, movie viewing/discussions, quick/fun experiments, and more. We are a chapter of PSI BETA (National Honor Society specifically for psychology majors at community colleges) and our goal is to provide an enthusiastic and inspirational atmosphere in which all students and /or faculty members can further their knowledge and interest in psychology.
