Event Details

Want to be part of the Sierra College Chamber Choir this semester? If you want to join, you must audition before registering for the course. Schedule you audition at https://goo.gl/forms/UXHFanMOuO98RL523.

Times available: Wed. Jan 24 2:20-4pm.

(The dates and times you check are simply indicating your availability; you do not have a confirmed audition date and time until Prof. Hoffman contacts you. She will do so within 24 hours of receiving your completed form.)

The 1.5 unit MUS42 class (CRN: 41781) meets Mondays/Wednesdays 12:30-1:50pm. The objectives of the audition are: 1) to determine your range in order to assign your voice part, 2) to confirm your ability to sing in tune, with well-produced tone quality, 3) to evaluate your confidence as a performer, and 4) to assess your musicianship skills. In your audition, you will be asked to:

  • Sing scales to determine your range
  • Perform a 30-60 excerpt of a solo vocal piece of your choice that shows your best, most confident singing
  • Sing a major scale, a major and minor triad, and a chromatic scale
  • Sight-sing a short melody
  • Sing series of tones after you hear them played for you on the piano
